In the middle of all things

So, as I’m sure American/British/wherever news has been covering, there are some great upheavals in the world recently. Well, always, but recently of concern to me are the bombings in Moscow and Dagestan, governmental overthrow in Kyrgyzstan, and rising tensions between Poland and Russia following the horrific and tragic death of the Polish president and most of his cabinet.

With escalating tension and hostility in and around Russia, I can’t help but feel a little uneasy at being less than 100 miles from the border. Russia controls the flow of gas into Ukraine, and while it is probably a bit alarmist to be already be worried about that, I am worried.

I have no doubt in my mind that if any of us were in real danger, PC would have us out as fast as possible; our safety is of their utmost concern (they’re not even being evacuated in Kyrgyzstan (although the US embassy is shut)).

My thoughts and prayers to all those mourning and suffering in the world right now.
